Sour Cherry Exports

Exports in the EU

For the fifth year in a row, the European Union recorded decline in shipments abroad of sour cherries, which decreased by X% to X tons in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, sour cherry exports declined notably to $X in 2022. In general, exports recorded a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Hungary represented the main exporting country with an export of about X tons, which resulted at X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Poland (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Croatia (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Spain (X tons), together generating a X% share of total exports. Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while Croatia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
