Exports of Zirconium Ores and Concentrates

Exports in the EU

In 2023, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of zirconium ores and concentrates, when their volume decreased by X% to X tons. Overall, exports saw a mild decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2022, and then fell rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, zirconium ore and concentrate exports shrank sharply to $X in 2023. In general, exports showed a slight shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2022 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank notably in the following year.

In 2023, the Netherlands (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main exporters of zirconium ores and concentrates in the European Union, together accounting for near X% of total exports. Italy (X tons) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Spain (X%), France (X%) and Poland (X%). Estonia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2023, the biggest increases were recorded for Estonia (with a CAGR of X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2023, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

By contrast, Belgium (X%), Italy (X%), France (X%) and Germany (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2023, the share of Spain and the Netherlands increased by X and X percentage points, respectively.
