Photographic Paper Market Size in Finland

The Finnish photographic paper market fell to $X in 2021, shrinking by -4.2% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). The exports peaked at X square meters in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, photographic paper exports shrank remarkably to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when exports increased by 5,935%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Estonia (X square meters) was the main destination for photographic paper exports from Finland, accounting for a 81% share of total exports. Moreover, photographic paper exports to Estonia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United States (X square meters), fourfold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Estonia stood at -31.1%.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average export price increased by 140%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per square meter in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per square meter), while the average price for exports to Estonia totaled $X per square meter.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Estonia (+7.8%).

Imports into Finland

In 2021, overseas purchases of photographic paper, paperboard and textiles were finally on the rise to reach X square meters after eight years of decline. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt setback. Imports peaked at X square meters in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, photographic paper imports reduced to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a abrupt downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 0.6% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, the Netherlands (X square meters) constituted the largest photographic paper supplier to Finland, accounting for a 88% share of total imports. Moreover, photographic paper imports from the Netherlands exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Sweden (X square meters), eightfold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the Netherlands amounted to -13.8%.
