Aluminum Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average aluminum import price amounted to $2,369 per ton, dropping by -4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a mild downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 1% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $2,878 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from the United Arab Emirates ($2,813 per ton) and Qatar ($2,673 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($2,228 per ton) and Iran ($2,289 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (-0.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Aluminum Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average aluminum export price amounted to $2,625 per ton, falling by -1.5% against the previous month. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 an increase of 8.3% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $3,363 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In July 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Canada ($3,040 per ton) and Albania ($2,743 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($2,461 per ton) and Bulgaria ($2,565 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Albania (-1.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Aluminum Imports in Turkey
In 2022, imports of aluminum into Turkey fell to 1.8M tons, shrinking by -4.2% compared with the previous year. Overall, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +45.7% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 52% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 1.9M tons, and then declined slightly in the following year.
In value terms, aluminum imports expanded rapidly to $5.2B in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 117% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Aluminum Exports in Turkey
In 2022, approx. 219K tons of aluminum were exported from Turkey; increasing by 48% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 217%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, aluminum exports soared to $729M in 2022. In general, exports saw significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 430%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
