The average artificial graphite import price stood at $2,446 per ton in 2022, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, artificial graphite import price increased by +16.5% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 204% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $3,208 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($2,477 per ton), while the price for the United States amounted to $2,445 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+8.6%).

Artificial Graphite Imports in Libya

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in supplies from abroad of artificial graphite, when their volume decreased by -0.6% to 14 tons. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +17.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +61.9% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 39% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 14 tons, leveling off in the following year.

In value terms, artificial graphite imports amounted to $34K in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +19.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +70.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
