Blueberry and Cranberry Price in Italy (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average blueberry and cranberry import price amounted to $8,310 per ton, with an increase of 42% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a temperate expansion from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, blueberry and cranberry import price increased by +42.2% against August 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 43% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $8,876 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to September 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($12,737 per ton), while the price for Romania ($5,635 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+5.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Blueberry and Cranberry Price in Italy (FOB) - 2023
The average blueberry and cranberry export price stood at $10,520 per ton in September 2023, surging by 39% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated pronounced growth from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.4% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, blueberry and cranberry export price increased by +58.9% against July 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 43% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $12,304 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to September 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Romania ($16,922 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($5,078 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Blueberry and Cranberry Imports in Italy
In 2022, the amount of blueberries and cranberries imported into Italy soared to 13K tons, growing by 27% on the previous year. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 48%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, blueberry and cranberry imports amounted to $74M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a significant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +20.6% over the last three years. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 11%. In value terms, blueberry and cranberry exports declined markedly to $22M in 2022.
