Chick Peas Price in Malaysia (CIF) - 2021
In December 2021, the average chick peas import price amounted to $1,396 per ton, picking up by 26% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a noticeable expansion from December 2020 to December 2021: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.0% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on December 2021 figures, chick peas import price increased by +49.3% against October 2021 indices. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Iran ($2,087 per ton), while the price for Myanmar ($1,200 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+14.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
