Chipped Non-Coniferous Wood Price in Serbia (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average chipped non-coniferous wood import price amounted to $142 per cubic meter, surging by 69% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a temperate increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average import price increased by 369% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $202 per cubic meter in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($332 per cubic meter), while the price for Croatia ($42 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bosnia and Herzegovina (+7.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average chipped non-coniferous wood export price amounted to $197 per cubic meter, with an increase of 209% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a prominent increase. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Montenegro ($391 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Italy ($52 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Croatia (+24.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of non-coniferous wood in chips or particles decreased by -65% to 2K cubic meters for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 187%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 5.6K cubic meters, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, chipped non-coniferous wood imports reduced sharply to $279K in 2022. In general, imports, however, posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 81%. Imports peaked at $472K in 2021, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, chipped non-coniferous wood exports dropped notably to $9.8K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a sharp reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 39% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $142K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
