Chocolate and Confectionery Price in Ireland (CIF) - 2022
The average chocolate and confectionery import price stood at $5,236 per ton in 2022, waning by -12.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 29% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $6,263 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Cote d'Ivoire ($9,548 per ton), while the price for Poland ($4,167 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Cote d'Ivoire (+7.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Chocolate and Confectionery Price in Ireland (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average chocolate and confectionery export price amounted to $5,396 per ton, declining by -4.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a mild curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 10% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $7,286 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($10,761 per ton), while the average price for exports to Egypt ($2,500 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+0.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, approx. 79K tons of chocolate and confectionery were imported into Ireland; growing by 10% on 2021 figures. In general, imports, however, showed a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 11% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 102K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, chocolate and confectionery imports shrank modestly to $415M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 5.4%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $472M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
