Citrus Fruit Price in Oman (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average citrus fruit import price amounted to $878 per ton, remaining stable against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, citrus fruit import price increased by +82.5% against 2014 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $881 per ton in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($2,195 per ton), while the price for Pakistan ($356 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+15.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Citrus Fruit Price in Oman (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average citrus fruit export price amounted to $641 per ton, picking up by 2.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a perceptible contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 119%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,349 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bahrain ($2,036 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($151 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bahrain (+9.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Citrus Fruit Imports in Oman
In 2022, citrus fruit imports into Oman shrank to 102K tons, reducing by -6.1% on 2021. In general, imports saw a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 12%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 109K tons, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, citrus fruit imports contracted to $90M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.2% over the last three years.
