Citrus Fruit Price in the Philippines (CIF) - 2022
The average citrus fruit import price stood at $1,135 per ton in 2022, reducing by -3.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 35%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $1,173 per ton in 2021, and then contracted slightly in the following year.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Argentina ($1,177 per ton) and China ($1,172 per ton), while the price for the United States ($858 per ton) and Australia ($998 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+13.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Citrus Fruit Price in the Philippines (FOB) - 2022
The average citrus fruit export price stood at $1,181 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -1.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a modest increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $1,204 per ton in 2021, and then contracted modestly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($1,967 per ton), while the average price for exports to Australia ($1,046 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+156.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Citrus Fruit Imports in the Philippines
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of citrus fruits, when their volume decreased by -24.4% to 125K tons. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 24%.
In value terms, citrus fruit imports dropped markedly to $142M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a moderate increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 39% against the previous year.

In value terms, citrus fruit exports soared to $80K in 2022. In general, exports saw significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 214% against the previous year.
