Cosmetics Price in Australia (CIF) - 2022
The average cosmetics import price stood at $30,245 per ton in 2022, rising by 7.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price enjoyed prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 54% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($39,160 per ton), while the price for China ($21,030 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+24.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cosmetics Price in Australia (FOB) - 2022
The average cosmetics export price stood at $29,188 per ton in 2022, jumping by 25% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, cosmetics export price increased by +37.3% against 2020 indices. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were New Zealand ($32,765 per ton) and the United States ($28,836 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($27,624 per ton) and Saudi Arabia ($27,639 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+10.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cosmetics Imports in Australia
In 2022, imports of cosmetics into Australia rose to 34K tons, increasing by 3.4% against 2021 figures. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern.
In value terms, cosmetics imports stood at $1B in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years.
