Date Price in Egypt (FOB) - 2022
The average date export price stood at $1,336 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 63% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 67% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $1,358 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Indonesia ($4,279 per ton) and Malaysia ($4,279 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($4,279 per ton) and Turkey ($4,279 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Thailand (+17.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average date import price stood at $1,313 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 71% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $1,412 per ton in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Jordan.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the United Arab Emirates amounted to +3.9% per year.
Date Exports in Egypt
In 2022, the amount of dates exported from Egypt contracted to 52K tons, with a decrease of -14.3% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, exports recorded a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 56%.
