Fiberboard Price in Sri Lanka (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average fiberboard import price amounted to $98 per cubic meter, with an increase of 30% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.9%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $104 per cubic meter in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($184 per cubic meter), while the price for Vietnam ($80 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+8.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fiberboard Price in Sri Lanka (FOB) - 2022
The average fiberboard export price stood at $56 per cubic meter in 2022, picking up by 10% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a noticeable reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 13%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $75 per cubic meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($78 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Pakistan amounted to $35 per cubic meter.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Fiberboard Imports in Sri Lanka
In 2022, approx. 79K cubic meters of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials were imported into Sri Lanka; reducing by -61% compared with 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 96%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 203K cubic meters, and then shrank significantly in the following year.
In value terms, fiberboard imports declined sharply to $7.7M in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 82%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $15M, and then fell significantly in the following year.

Fiberboard Exports in Sri Lanka
In 2022, the amount of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials exported from Sri Lanka declined sharply to 31K cubic meters, dropping by -66.6% compared with the year before. In general, exports saw a dramatic shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 0.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at 154K cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, fiberboard exports contracted sharply to $1.7M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a sharp setback. The smallest decline of -17% was in 2021. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $9.3M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
