Frozen Norway Lobster Price in Ireland (FOB) - 2023

The average frozen norway lobster export price stood at $12,876 per ton in July 2023, waning by -5.5% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 25% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $16,745 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($16,937 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($5,800 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+1.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Frozen Norway Lobster Price in Ireland (CIF) - 2023

The average frozen norway lobster import price stood at $12,999 per ton in July 2023, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a modest increase from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, frozen norway lobster import price increased by +47.8% against January 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 an increase of 45% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $14,057 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($20,299 per ton), while the price for the UK ($10,323 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Frozen Norway Lobster Exports in Ireland

For the third year in a row, Ireland recorded decline in overseas shipments of frozen norway lobsters, which decreased by 0% to 4.5K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a abrupt descent. The smallest decline of -15.7% was in 2020.

In value terms, frozen norway lobster exports stood at $67M in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a modest increase. The smallest decline of -15.4% was in 2020. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
