In 2022, the average frozen tilapias import price amounted to $3,232 per ton, declining by -10% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a measured expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 131% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $5,347 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($3,888 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($3,028 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Latvia (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Frozen Tilapias Imports in Lithuania
In 2022, overseas purchases of frozen tilapias decreased by -2.6% to 1.9 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports, however, posted prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 2,467%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 30 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, frozen tilapias imports dropped to $6.2K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 5,245%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $144K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
