Garlic Price in Poland (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average garlic import price amounted to $2,340 per ton, picking up by 22% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a pronounced expansion from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.4% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, garlic import price increased by +49.1% against April 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 when the average import price increased by 32% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,958 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to June 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($4,559 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($1,230 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+12.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Garlic Price in Poland (FOB) - 2023
The average garlic export price stood at $3,089 per ton in June 2023, with an increase of 21% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price showed a slight increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2022 when the average export price increased by 77% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $5,440 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to June 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Germany ($7,790 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($1,266 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Garlic Imports in Poland
In 2022, the amount of garlic imported into Poland rose notably to 15K tons, with an increase of 13% against the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 17%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, garlic imports contracted to $29M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 66%.

Garlic Exports in Poland
In 2022, garlic exports from Poland expanded remarkably to 1.6K tons, increasing by 6.2% compared with 2021. In general, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 61% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 2.5K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, garlic exports declined dramatically to $3.6M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible descent.
