Gum Arabic Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023

The average gum arabic import price stood at $3,014 per ton in August 2023, dropping by -11.7% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 an increase of 41% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $4,401 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the UK ($6,142 per ton), while the price for Sudan ($637 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average gum arabic export price stood at $5,606 per ton in August 2023, with an increase of 17% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 20% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in August 2023.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Brazil ($19,084 per ton), while the average price for exports to Argentina ($3,520 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Brazil (+15.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
