Ice Cream Price in Croatia (FOB) - 2023
In August 2023, the average ice cream export price amounted to $3,516 per ton, approximately equating the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a pronounced increase from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.0% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, ice cream export price decreased by -3.2% against June 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 59% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $4,307 per ton. From December 2022 to August 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Serbia ($4,905 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($2,166 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Serbia (+5.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Ice Cream Price in Croatia (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average ice cream import price amounted to $4,339 per ton, rising by 7.9% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a measured increase from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.6% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, ice cream import price increased by +11.0% against June 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 an increase of 74% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum in August 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Hungary ($5,973 per ton), while the price for Germany ($3,522 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Ice Cream Exports in Croatia
In 2022, ice cream exports from Croatia dropped modestly to 9.9K tons, which is down by -2.5% compared with 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 10K tons, and then shrank slightly in the following year.
In value terms, ice cream exports dropped modestly to $26M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 29%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $27M, and then contracted slightly in the following year.

Ice Cream Imports in Croatia
For the fourth consecutive year, Croatia recorded growth in purchases abroad of ice cream, which increased by 5.1% to 8.4K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 14%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, ice cream imports expanded slightly to $26M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +10.8% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 16%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
