Live Fish Price in Ukraine (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average live fish export price amounted to $155,176 per ton, rising by 4,119% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The export price peaked at $200,000 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Moldova ($276,713 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($4,421 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Moldova (+199.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average live fish import price amounted to $34,490 per ton, declining by -28% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 32% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $62,532 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($82,283 per ton), while the price for Singapore ($15,216 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+22.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Live Fish Exports in Ukraine
In 2022, overseas shipments of live fish decreased by -96.3% to 8.4 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports saw a sharp slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 30%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 425 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, live fish exports soared to $1.3M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a significant increase. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Live Fish Imports in Ukraine
For the third consecutive year, Ukraine recorded decline in overseas purchases of live fish, which decreased by -81.5% to 805 kg in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a dramatic decline. The smallest decline of -8.6% was in 2021.
In value terms, live fish imports shrank rapidly to $28K in 2022. In general, imports faced a sharp downturn. The smallest decline of -3.2% was in 2021.
