Lysine Price in Lithuania (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average lysine export price amounted to $1,465 per ton, approximately equating the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a perceptible slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 4.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $2,099 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In September 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Bulgaria ($1,529 per ton) and Italy ($1,521 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($1,411 per ton) and Ukraine ($1,415 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bulgaria (+0.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Lysine Price in Lithuania (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average lysine import price amounted to $1,248 per ton, growing by 4.3% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a noticeable shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 4.4% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $1,913 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for China.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for China amounted to -3.5% per month.
Lysine Exports in Lithuania
In 2022, approx. 18K tons of lysine and its esters, and salts thereof were exported from Lithuania; rising by 8.9% against 2021 figures. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern.
In value terms, lysine exports skyrocketed to $37M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +18.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +66.8% against 2019 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Lysine Imports in Lithuania
