Nitrites; Nitrates Price in Ukraine (CIF) - 2023

In August 2023, the average nitrites; nitrates import price amounted to $1,322 per ton, increasing by 34% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a mild increase from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, nitrites; nitrates import price increased by +34.4% against July 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2022 an increase of 53% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $1,714 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Poland ($2,033 per ton), while the price for Slovakia ($620 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average nitrites; nitrates export price amounted to $605 per ton, jumping by 92% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable shrinkage. The export price peaked at $821 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Moldova ($689 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($187 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Egypt (+1.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Nitrites; Nitrates Imports in Ukraine

Nitrites; nitrates imports into Ukraine reduced remarkably to 5.2K tons in 2022, with a decrease of -19.1% on 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 33% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 6.4K tons, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, nitrites; nitrates imports expanded rapidly to $5.3M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +45.9% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 35%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

In 2022, overseas shipments of nitrites; nitrateses decreased by -95.6% to 174 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, exports faced a precipitous setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 7.9% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 11K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, nitrites; nitrates exports dropped markedly to $106K in 2022. In general, exports faced a dramatic decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 4.7%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $2.9M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
