Nonwoven Fabric Price in Brazil (CIF) - 2023
In October 2023, the average nonwoven fabric import price amounted to $2,681 per ton, shrinking by -5.4% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 an increase of 6.6% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $3,926 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to October 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($9,272 per ton), while the price for India ($1,663 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Nonwoven Fabric Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2023
The average nonwoven fabric export price stood at $3,577 per ton in October 2023, declining by -2.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 an increase of 12% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $4,141 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to October 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Costa Rica ($10,196 per ton), while the average price for exports to Uruguay ($3,191 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Costa Rica (+8.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Nonwoven Fabric Imports in Brazil
Nonwoven fabric imports into Brazil reduced to 69K tons in 2022, dropping by -10.6% against 2021 figures. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 37%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 77K tons, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, nonwoven fabric imports fell to $268M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +41.6% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 51%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $287M, and then shrank in the following year.
