Olive Oil Price in Sweden (CIF) - 2021
The average olive oil import price stood at $4,322 per ton in November 2021, with an increase of 10% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2021 an increase of 15% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in November 2021.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2021, the highest price was recorded for prices from the Netherlands ($5,341 per ton) and Greece ($4,589 per ton), while the price for Spain ($3,891 per ton) and Morocco ($4,259 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From November 2020 to November 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average olive oil export price amounted to $5,389 per ton, with a decrease of -4.5% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 25%. The export price peaked at $5,650 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Norway ($8,618 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($2,846 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Norway (+9.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of olive oil and its fractions, when their volume decreased by -5.4% to 10K tons. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 19% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $42M, and then declined in the following year.
