Photographic Paper Price in Uganda (CIF) - 2022
The average photographic paper import price stood at $5.5 per square meter in 2022, falling by -12.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $6.3 per square meter in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($43 per square meter), while the price for Italy ($0.4 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+20.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average photographic paper export price stood at $3.9 per square meter in 2022, falling by -3.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate mild growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 102% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $7 per square meter in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Burundi ($4.2 per square meter), while the average price for exports to Rwanda amounted to $1.1 per square meter.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Sudan (+60.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Photographic Paper Imports in Uganda
In 2022, the amount of photographic paper, paperboard and textiles imported into Uganda amounted to 159K square meters, with an increase of 14% compared with 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a abrupt shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 232% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at 213K square meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, photographic paper imports reached $872K in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 252% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $1.1M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Photographic Paper Exports in Uganda
For the fourth year in a row, Uganda recorded growth in shipments abroad of photographic paper, paperboard and textiles, which increased by 1.4% to 1.1K square meters in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +15.2% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +52.8% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
In value terms, photographic paper exports reduced modestly to $4.3K in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 9.8% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $4.5K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
