Polyurethanes Price in India (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average polyurethanes import price amounted to $2,617 per ton, which is down by -7.1% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 4.9% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $3,121 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($3,818 per ton), while the price for China ($2,051 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Polyurethanes Price in India (FOB) - 2023
The average polyurethanes export price stood at $2,920 per ton in July 2023, with a decrease of -2.2% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 an increase of 6.7% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $3,310 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($4,496 per ton), while the average price for exports to Nigeria ($2,196 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Polyurethanes Imports in India
In 2022, the amount of polyurethanes in primary forms imported into India rose rapidly to 141K tons, picking up by 8.9% compared with 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 11%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, polyurethanes imports soared to $438M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +13.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +77.0% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 48%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Polyurethanes Exports in India
In 2022, exports of polyurethanes in primary forms from India skyrocketed to 29K tons, rising by 16% compared with the previous year. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.1% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, polyurethanes exports skyrocketed to $91M in 2022.
