Potato Chips Price in Peru (CIF) - 2021
The average potato chips import price stood at $9,094 per ton in April 2020, jumping by 46% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2020 to April 2020, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.9%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In April 2020, the country with the highest price was the United States ($9,115 per ton), while the price for Chile totaled $6,499 per ton.
From January 2020 to April 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+91.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average potato chips export price amounted to $5,693 per ton, dropping by -1.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average export price increased by 24%. The export price peaked at $6,045 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($14,591 per ton), while the average price for exports to Chile ($2,810 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+8.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Potato Chips Imports in Peru
In 2022, approx. 14 tons of potato chips were imported into Peru; with a decrease of -11.2% compared with 2021 figures. In general, imports faced a precipitous curtailment. The smallest decline of -9.9% was in 2021.
In value terms, potato chips imports skyrocketed to $65K in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a dramatic curtailment.

Potato Chips Exports in Peru
In 2022, overseas shipments of potato chips were finally on the rise to reach 461 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, exports, however, recorded a deep contraction.
In value terms, potato chips exports declined slightly to $2.6M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 2.2%.
