The average import price for aluminium; alloys, bars, rods and profiles, other than hollows stood at $5,974 per ton in November 2023, rising by 5.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a slight setback. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $6,722 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to November 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($10,993 per ton), while the price for Bosnia and Herzegovina ($4,447 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+5.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In November 2023, the average export price for aluminium; alloys, bars, rods and profiles, other than hollows amounted to $6,848 per ton, increasing by 9.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2023 an increase of 17% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $7,555 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to November 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($33,128 per ton), while the average price for exports to Montenegro ($6,241 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland (+10.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Aluminium; Alloys, Bars, Rods and Profiles, Other than Hollow in Croatia
In 2022, supplies from abroad of aluminium; alloys, bars, rods and profiles, other than hollows decreased by -0.5% to 10K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 24% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 10K tons, leveling off in the following year.
In value terms, imports of aluminium; alloys, bars, rods and profiles, other than hollows surged to $67M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 60%. Over the period under review, imports of attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
