Price for Books, Brochures and Leaflets in Portugal (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average books, brochures and leaflets import price amounted to $11,845 per ton, approximately reflecting the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2023 an increase of 17% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $14,225 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to June 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($44,225 per ton), while the price for China ($6,976 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+7.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average books, brochures and leaflets export price stood at $9,240 per ton in June 2023, with an increase of 97% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price enjoyed strong growth. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($25,974 per ton), while the average price for exports to Luxembourg ($3,694 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+11.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Books, Brochures and Leaflets in Portugal
In 2022, supplies from abroad of books, brochures, leaflets and similar printed matter was finally on the rise to reach 3.7K tons after two years of decline. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced shrinkage.
In value terms, books, brochures and leaflets imports totaled $48M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was growth in overseas shipments of books, brochures, leaflets and similar printed matter, when their volume increased by 3.4% to 5.4K tons. Overall, exports, however, recorded a deep slump.
In value terms, books, brochures and leaflets exports stood at $27M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a pronounced downturn.
