Price for Bovine and Equine Leather in Belgium (FOB) - 2023
The average bovine and equine leather export price stood at $7,294 per ton in July 2023, waning by -44.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw a pronounced decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 an increase of 53% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $14,852 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($48,912 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($3,197 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+3.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average bovine and equine leather import price amounted to $10,447 per ton, declining by -7.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 59% against the previous year.
