The average import price for cotton waste (including yarn waste and garnetted stock) stood at $1,341 per ton in January 2024, picking up by 2.3% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 24% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,705 per ton in October 2023; however, from November 2023 to January 2024, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was the United States ($1,792 per ton), while the price for the Philippines ($578 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From February 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+4.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
