Price for Crude Oil and Processed Petroleum in Tanzania (CIF) - 2022
The average import price for crude oil and processed petroleum stood at $634 per ton in 2022, remaining stable against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a pronounced contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the average import price increased by 62% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $853 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Oman ($671 per ton) and the United Arab Emirates ($646 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($572 per ton) and India ($620 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Oman (-1.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average export price for crude oil and processed petroleum stood at $1,102 per ton in 2022, falling by -17.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a mild shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 107% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $1,675 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Zambia ($1,473 per ton), while the average price for exports to Uganda ($509 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Burundi (+5.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Crude Oil and Processed Petroleum in Tanzania
