Price for Electronic Integrated Circuits; Memories in Mexico (CIF) - 2023

The average electronic integrated circuits; memories import price stood at $984 per thousand units in June 2023, waning by -8.1% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a slight curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 when the average import price increased by 8.5% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1.3 per unit. From September 2022 to June 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was South Korea ($2.9 per unit), while the price for Thailand ($469 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (-0.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In June 2023, the average electronic integrated circuits; memories export price amounted to $2.2 per unit, rising by 12% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw slight growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2022 when the average export price increased by 123% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $2.6 per unit in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to June 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($4.5 per unit), while the average price for exports to the United States ($1.8 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+18.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Electronic Integrated Circuits; Memories in Mexico

For the third consecutive year, Mexico recorded decline in purchases abroad of electronic integrated circuits, which decreased by -2.6% to 1.1B units in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a abrupt setback. The smallest decline of -1.4% was in 2021. Imports peaked at 1.7B units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, electronic integrated circuits; memories imports expanded modestly to $1.3B in 2022. In general, imports faced a sharp setback. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $4B in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
