The average export price for ethylene polymers; waste, parings and scraps stood at $297 per ton in December 2022, shrinking by -13.4% against the previous month. In general, the export price recorded a pronounced descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2022 an increase of 25% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $501 per ton. From June 2022 to December 2022, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Vietnam.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Malaysia amounted to +4.8% per month.

The average import price for ethylene polymers; waste, parings and scraps stood at $534 per ton in 2022, rising by 37% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a slight descent. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $603 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($758 per ton), while the price for Italy ($77 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+20.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
