In November 2023, the average import price for fish; edible offal, other than shark fins, fish heads, tails and mawses amounted to $10,924 per ton, picking up by 15% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 an increase of 89% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $29,091 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to November 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Bahrain ($139K per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($2,997 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for fish; edible offal, other than shark fins, fish heads, tails and mawses amounted to $8,580 per ton, increasing by 4.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a slight increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average export price increased by 87% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($18,974 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($5,344 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (+43.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
