Price for Flaked or Rolled Cereal in Egypt (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average flaked or rolled cereal import price amounted to $995 per ton, growing by 11% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 51%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $1,939 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Poland ($1,004 per ton) and the Czech Republic ($1,004 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($855 per ton) and Germany ($978 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ukraine (+8.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average flaked or rolled cereal export price stood at $930 per ton in 2022, jumping by 17% against the previous year. In general, the export price posted a noticeable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 79%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Jordan ($990 per ton) and Palestine ($964 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($913 per ton) and Sudan ($913 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Tunisia (+37.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Flaked or Rolled Cereal in Egypt

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of flaked or rolled cereals, when their volume decreased by -16.5% to 4.3K tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 5.1K tons, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, flaked or rolled cereal imports fell to $4.3M in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 20% against the previous year.
