Price for Glass Fibre Chopped Strand in Russia (CIF) - 2022
In January 2022, the average glass fibre chopped strand import price amounted to $1,427 per ton, growing by 6% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.7%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2021 an increase of 36% month-to-month. The import price peaked in January 2022.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2022, the countries with the highest prices were China ($1,453 per ton) and the UK ($1,384 per ton), while the price for France ($1,102 per ton) and Belarus ($1,172 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average glass fibre chopped strand export price stood at $3,321 per ton in January 2022, rising by 82% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, showed a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2021 when the average export price increased by 91% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $5,267 per ton in January 2021; however, from February 2021 to January 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Belarus ($21,226 per ton), while the average price for exports to Finland ($1,434 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belarus (+8.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Imports of Glass Fibre Chopped Strand in Russia
For the fourth consecutive year, Russia recorded growth in overseas purchases of glass fibre chopped strands, which increased by 102% to 27K tons in 2022. Overall, imports enjoyed significant growth. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
