Price for Glass Fibres and Wool in Turkey (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average glass fibres and wool import price amounted to $9,379 per ton, growing by 30% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +4.2%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($61,443 per ton), while the price for China ($4,683 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+15.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Price for Glass Fibres and Wool in Turkey (FOB) - 2022
The average glass fibres and wool export price stood at $3,092 per ton in 2022, growing by 1.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, glass fibres and wool export price increased by +22.9% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 23%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($9,116 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($497 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bulgaria (+24.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Glass Fibres and Wool in Turkey
After two years of decline, overseas purchases of glass fibres and glass wool increased by 17% to 5.7K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a dramatic setback.
In value terms, glass fibres and wool imports surged to $40M in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports of Glass Fibres and Wool in Turkey
For the fourth year in a row, Turkey recorded growth in overseas shipments of glass fibres and glass wool, which increased by 4.2% to 6.7K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +19.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +70.4% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 54%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, glass fibres and wool exports stood at $21M in 2022. In general, exports saw significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 89% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
