Price for Homogenised Jam and Marmalade in Uganda (CIF) - 2022

The average homogenised jam and marmalade import price stood at $1,362 per ton in 2022, growing by 5.7% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.4%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 20% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $1,789 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($3,890 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($232 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+9.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Price for Homogenised Jam and Marmalade in Uganda (FOB) - 2022

The average homogenised jam and marmalade export price stood at $2,866 per ton in 2022, jumping by 23% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a measured increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 90%. The export price peaked at $4,402 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($11,762 per ton), while the average price for exports to Rwanda ($1,000 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+28.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports of Homogenised Jam and Marmalade in Uganda

In 2022, supplies from abroad of homogenised preparations of jams, fruit jellies and marmalades decreased by -18.3% to 15 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 257% against the previous year.

In value terms, homogenised jam and marmalade imports reduced to $21K in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 220% against the previous year.

In 2022, exports of homogenised preparations of jams, fruit jellies and marmalades from Uganda contracted markedly to 829 kg, declining by -25.1% against the previous year's figure. In general, exports saw a dramatic contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 101% against the previous year.

In value terms, homogenised jam and marmalade exports fell to $2.4K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a precipitous curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 20% against the previous year.
