Price for Hot-Rolled Wire Rod in Coils in Turkey (FOB) - 2024
The average export price for hot-rolled wire rods in coils stood at $615 per ton in January 2024, picking up by 4.9% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a mild shrinkage. The export price peaked at $739 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to January 2024, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In January 2024, the countries with the highest prices were Morocco ($739 per ton) and Romania ($624 per ton), while the average price for exports to Senegal ($586 per ton) and Bosnia and Herzegovina ($596 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bosnia and Herzegovina (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Price for Hot-Rolled Wire Rod in Coils in Turkey (CIF) - 2024
The average import price for hot-rolled wire rods in coils stood at $659 per ton in January 2024, approximately equating the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2023 when the average import price increased by 18% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $859 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to January 2024, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Spain ($871 per ton), while the price for Kazakhstan ($500 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+0.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Exports of Hot-Rolled Wire Rod in Coils in Turkey
In 2022, approx. 1.1M tons of hot-rolled wire rods in coils were exported from Turkey; which is down by -22.7% compared with the previous year. Overall, exports faced a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 13% against the previous year.
In value terms, hot-rolled wire rod in coils exports shrank to $916M in 2022. In general, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 79%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $1B, and then fell in the following year.

Imports of Hot-Rolled Wire Rod in Coils in Turkey
In 2022, the amount of hot-rolled wire rods in coils imported into Turkey fell to 367K tons, which is down by -13.5% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 48% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 424K tons, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, hot-rolled wire rod in coils imports reached $364M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 104%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
