The average export price for iron or non-alloy steel; bars and rods, hot-rolled, in irregularly wound coilses stood at $1,048 per ton in July 2023, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a mild slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 when the average export price increased by 7% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $1,147 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($1,892 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($750 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+7.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
