In October 2023, the average export price for molybdenum; articles thereof, including waste and scrap amounted to $48,067 per ton, with a decrease of -12.7% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 36% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $94,983 per ton. From March 2023 to October 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($49,859 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium totaled $47,774 per ton.

From November 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average import price for molybdenum; articles thereof, including waste and scrap amounted to $112,085 per ton, falling by -96.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, enjoyed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 5,241%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $3,479 per kg, and then dropped significantly in the following year.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($145,143 per ton), while the price for China ($96,781 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+657.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of molybdenum; articles thereof, including waste and scrap, when their volume decreased by -21.3% to 747 tons. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 105% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
