Price for Nickel and Lithium Accumulators in the United States (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average nickel and lithium accumulators import price amounted to $56.3 per unit, rising by 29% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated pronounced growth from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.1% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, nickel and lithium accumulators import price increased by +103.5% against June 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 an increase of 60% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $56.3 per unit in April 2023; afterwards, it flattened through to September 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($184 per unit), while the price for Malaysia ($11.5 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+20.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In September 2023, the average nickel and lithium accumulators export price amounted to $92.8 per unit, with a decrease of -18.2% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2023 when the average export price increased by 11% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $113 per unit, and then dropped markedly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the UK ($219 per unit), while the average price for exports to Germany ($41.7 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mexico (+8.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Nickel and Lithium Accumulators in the United States
For the fourth consecutive year, the United States recorded growth in supplies from abroad of nickel-cadmium, nickel metal hydride, lithium-ion, lithium polymer and nickel-iron accumulators, which increased by 60% to 858M units in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a significant increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
