In October 2023, the average export price for nickel; plates, sheets, strip and foil, of nickel alloyses amounted to $42,703 per ton, waning by -6.1% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.0%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 20% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $47,795 per ton. From February 2023 to October 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was South Korea ($53,311 per ton), while the average price for exports to Indonesia ($21,381 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+6.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 an increase of 17% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $50,415 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to October 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was China ($87,867 per ton), while the price for the UK ($28,644 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +48.2% against 2019 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, exports of nickel; plates, sheets, strip and foil, of nickel alloyses skyrocketed to $570M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +15.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +78.5% against 2020 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
