The average import price for nickel; plates, sheets, strip and foils stood at $16,745 per ton in 2022, falling by -24% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a mild contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $22,035 per ton in 2021, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($30,912 per ton), while the price for Norway ($12,615 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Finland (+18.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price peaked at $197,722 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Sri Lanka.
