In 2022, the average import price for non-woven, felt and coated textile garments amounted to $2.3 per unit, reducing by -74.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price faced a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 114%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $13 per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($65 per unit), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($1 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+4.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for non-woven, felt and coated textile garments amounted to $4.1 per unit, with a decrease of -24.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 103% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $8 per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Democratic Republic of the Congo ($4.8 per unit), while the average price for exports to Burundi stood at $2.2 per unit.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Democratic Republic of the Congo (-4.4%).

Imports of Non-Woven, Felt and Coated Textile Garment in Uganda

For the fourth consecutive year, Uganda recorded growth in supplies from abroad of non-woven, felt and coated textile garments, which increased by 257% to 927K units in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a significant expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, imports of non-woven, felt and coated textile garments fell to $2.2M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +13.7% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +47.0% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 32%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $2.4M, and then dropped in the following year.

As a result, the exports reached the peak of $2.3M, and then shrank notably in the following year.
