In October 2023, the average import price for nuts, edible; cashew nuts, shelled, fresh or drieds amounted to $5,337 per ton, falling by -17.1% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 73% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $6,875 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to October 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Burkina Faso ($7,484 per ton), while the price for Benin ($4,000 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+6.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on October 2023 figures, export price for nuts, edible; cashew nuts, shelled, fresh or drieds increased by +67.5% against August 2023 indices. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Iceland.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Iceland amounted to +2.5% per month.
