The average import price for stainless steel; flat-rolled products of width less than 600mms stood at $4,730 per ton in March 2022, rising by 63% against the previous month. In general, the import price posted a pronounced expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2021 an increase of 74% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum in March 2022.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($11,191 per ton), while the price for Singapore ($1,825 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+5.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($5,712 per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($623 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
