In December 2023, the average export price for tools, hand; other than household toolses amounted to $6,862 per ton, increasing by 19% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 23% month-to-month. The export price peaked in December 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($16,978 per ton), while the average price for exports to Brazil ($3,855 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for tools, hand; other than household toolses amounted to $55,973 per ton, shrinking by -7.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 15%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $60,577 per ton in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($161,434 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($9,166 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
