Price for Zinc; Plates, Sheets, Strip and Foil in Poland (CIF) - 2022

The average import price for zinc; plates, sheets, strip and foils stood at $2,440 per ton in 2022, declining by -10.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, import price for zinc; plates, sheets, strip and foils increased by +29.7% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 30%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $2,733 per ton, and then reduced in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Peru ($4,622 per ton), while the price for Austria ($979 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+5.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for zinc; plates, sheets, strip and foils stood at $3,753 per ton in November 2023, waning by -2.6% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 33% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $4,426 per ton. From May 2023 to November 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In November 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Belarus ($4,869 per ton) and the UK ($4,469 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($3,772 per ton) and Ukraine ($4,135 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+13.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Zinc; Plates, Sheets, Strip and Foil in Poland

In 2022, approx. 14K tons of zinc; plates, sheets, strip and foils were imported into Poland; growing by 45% on the year before. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +46.2% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, imports of zinc; plates, sheets, strip and foils soared to $33M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +19.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +72.3% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 31%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

After three years of growth, overseas shipments of zinc; plates, sheets, strip and foils decreased by -47% to 5.2K tons in 2022. Overall, exports showed a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 7.5% against the previous year.

In value terms, exports of zinc; plates, sheets, strip and foils contracted remarkably to $22M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a deep setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 28% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $35M, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.
